R.I.P

Here are few of my favourites from the entertainment world.. R.I.P

How can i not mention her in my blog??! Divya Bharati was young, talented and beautiful. Media called her 'wild crazy kid' while mass named her princess of bollywood. Her name was linked with every other leading man with whom she worked in various films.

She was still in school when people started comparing her with then superstar sridevi. Her uncanny resemblance to the southern diva put her on the map in hindi film industry. But it is quite commendable that she surpassed sridevi look alike image and proved her mettle as a power house performer. She could dance, act and hypnotize the mass. By the age of 18 she was a superstar. She signed 14 films in a year! no one has broken the record till date !

Sharukh  khan called her 'My leading lady' as he accredited his success in films like deewana and dil ashna hai to her.She got married to sajid nadidwala in may 1992 and the marriage was kept under wraps.

Just when everything was going well for her, in April 1993 her life was cut short by her tragic death. Details of the circumstances were murky . They could not find enough evidence of how she died' quotes wikipedia. she was just 19 when she died.

Hazel eyes and rebellious demeanour is what vishnuvardhan is for me. I have watched his first movie 'nagarahavu' directed by puttanna kanagal. A master piece in the kannada filmdom  and loved his character Ramachaari. No one else could have played it better than he has.

Bhootayyana maga ayyu is another classic movie, in which vishnuvardhan essayed a villager, young, charming and rebellious 'gulla'. The role had some shades of ramachaari.

I loved him for his earlier films and unique roles that he portrayed.

A perfect father, elder brother, husband, innocent villager, good hearted businessman, you name it K.S ashwath has played it all on silver screen. I grew up watching his films. My favourite would be 'chamayya master' in nagarahavu. his role was based on guru -shisya paramapare, master and disciple's relationship was explored with nicety by Mr. kanagal and ashwath was amazing in his role as ramachaari's mentor. If you appreciate good movie, watch 'naagarahavu' for vishnu and ashwath! There are hundreds of roles which he enacted flawlessly. I would need another long post for it.

He is a pioneer in kannada  Light music industry. His earthy voice evoked the senses of  listeners. He mentored many singers and was an accomplished musician. His songs bring you closer to the mother earth, universe and your soul. C. Ashwath  had an impeccable ability to transform every other lyric to poetry through his music.

My favorite song would be one of his compositions ' mugila maarige raaga ratiya' penned by the great d.ra. bendre, a very therapeutic song. It is a big loss that he is no more..
