I had been to uttarkhand for a 15 day voyage. it was astonishing to see the shivalik hill range. Beautiful serene sunrise watch is a must for any traveler. We flew to Delhi and took a bus to the ultimate cool city Dehradun. sadly it was already dark and we were left with no choice but find a nest to rest. The next day took us to the spiritual destination,Rishikesh where we found ourselves resting at Paramanandashram with a bowl full of satvik ahaar!.The ashram is calm with deep tranquility which boards over thousands of seekers every single day.Although we had to struggle to get an auto.(vikrant is what they call/its like a mini van)as they figured we are wandering the fare for a kilometer went up to 200 rupees.
Ashram is located across the river Ganga as one has to traverse the majestic 'Ramjhoola'.The sunny day bestowed us an opportunity to cross the roaring Ganga.
Ruffle lays replaced! A vendor roasts pappad on the streets of Rishikesh.
The grand Ramjhoola takes a back seat as tired tourist rest on the pavements.
Everyone is on the move.
Gateway to nirvana,Yoga shala
Bholenath!
We were lucky to witness 'Ganga aarathi' which attracts over a hundred thousand piligrims each day. The worship starts at 5 in the evening and goes on till 10 pm.Devotees are thrilled with the mind boggling sounds of conch, drums and bells accompanied by vedic chants. While we witnessed the prayers and poojas i noticed a dead body floating across ganga!.What a contrast i thought,a thin line between the living and dead.
'Ganga aarathi'
The Holy Ganga
